<description>Topic: Action Script for low bandwidth connections

Message: Thanks for the reply!!!We probably are not setting the relays to allow the file size to get through. Right now, the process is in Proof of Concept, so we aren't implementing yet. I know where to go if more help is needed!!!!

<title>Relevance Queries on a Mac OS in BES Technical Discussions : Fixlet Authoring</title>

<description>Topic: Relevance Queries on a Mac OS

Message: If you want to use a built-in feature of BigFix you should check out the &#34;Application Information (Mac OS X)&#34; analysis in the BES Inventory and License site.Mac OS X doesn't have a data structure, like the registry, that stores application version information. So, that means that when you gather this data (as the analysis above does) you must simply enumerate all the applications from a file system search. Usually you target &#34;the usual suspect areas&#34; such as /Applications.You might also have your BigFix sales person tell you about our Software Asset Management product if you need even greater application and license detail.

<title>Confirmation Required message in BES Technical Discussions : BES Deployment</title>

<description>Topic: Confirmation Required message

Message: We have a variety of BES clients on systems (7.1.1.315, 7.1.5.02, 7.2.4.60 and&#160; 7.2.5.22) but the majority is 7.2.4.60. Recently when we deploy software to a system, we ask for a forced reboot post action, there is a secondary message &#34;Confirmation Required&#34;. It looks like it times itself out and then restarts the system. I have noticed that the reboot doesn't execute timely. For example, a 15 minute forced reboot, takes atleast 15 minutes, but has ran up to 45 minutes to reboot. Does this have something to do with this new &#34;Confirmation Required&#34; feature?Checking the logs, and they do not seem out of the ordinary. Thanks,

<description>Topic: Action Script for low bandwidth connections

Message: Mike,Are you setting the _BESClient_ArchiveManager_MaxArchiveSize on the client computer?&#160; On the client's relay and/or root server, the _BESRelay_UploadManager_BufferDirectoryMaxSize and _BESRelay_UploadManager_CompressedFileMaxSize need to be set appropriately too or the file won't be accepted.&#160; If there are multiple relays between the client and root server, all of them would need to have these settings set relative to the file sizes you plan to upload. When it is all set correctly, upload manager does work.&#160; I run this for a well-known retailer.&#160; &#160;Ten of thousands of files and GBs of data are uploaded daily. At that point, it becomes critical to correctly identify the IOP requirements of the disk array on your relays and root server.&#160; Upload manager can overwhelm the I/O to the disk if you're not careful.&#160; Multiple and tiered relays help in this situation.

<title>Relay Autoselection after Standby in BES Technical Discussions : BES Deployment</title>

<description>Topic: Relay Autoselection after Standby

Message: We use automatic relay selection on almost all of our clients. To prevent clients from hammering the root BES server, we use relay affiliation lists. This has worked well for the most part. However, we've started noticing that clients that have been in standby for several hours select the central BES server almost immediately after waking up. The only thing I can come up with is that they may be having trouble with relay selection while the network connection is in limbo at wakeup. If I deploy a &#34;relay select&#34; command on the clients that incorrectly selected the BES relay, they use another relay based on affiliation. To work around this we're thinking of deploying a policy that forces clients connecting to the BES root server relay to do another relay select every 30 minutes instead of the default (6 hours). Is this a plausible solution, or should I be looking at something else.

<description>Topic: Relevance Queries on a Mac OS

Message: Here is a fairly general question, but it may help me get started:Some background:We have a number of properties that detect and report on software applications installed on an endpoint.&#160; We typically look in the registry (the uninstall hive) for DisplayNames and Versions, etc.&#160; Up untill now, we have been reporting only on Windows operating systems. The Question:How does one go about getting the same or similar data from an endpoint running a Mac OS?I'm fairly Mac iliterate at this point (sounds like that is going to change though), so if the question seems simplistic, please forgive my ignorance.

<description>Topic: Action Script for low bandwidth connections

Message: The files that are being uploaded need to go to another server for processing (basically, its retail outlets, and the files being uploaded are end of day transactions)Also, I tried to use the Upload task for dump logs and modify that to work for sending upsteam. I included the command to allow the file to be 10MB to be transferred. It didn't seem to work, as we attempted a 3mb file to go to the server, and the log file for the upload manager said max size exceeded. I can provide the code I used in the morning once I'm back in the office.

Message: Hmm..&#160; Seems if I compare string manipulations vs a tuple, tuples are a few ms slower.&#160; Though it does seem to be more readable.&#160; I put another relevance in the other topic.&#160; Not sure which I like better.Thx for the tuple example.
